  • Last week, I wrote a blog post about how to care for (handmade) garments. And today I want to continue with this topic and discuss the background of a minimalist and sustainable wardrobe.
I have been thinking about the issue of this post a lot in the last couple of days. And I even contemplated whether or not to share my perspective at all. The reason for this is the fact that the things I am sharing about today are uncomfortable to think, read and write about. But I hope that you choose to learn more about this topic nonetheless because I feel that it is of utmost importance to talk about these issues. You can find the blog post here: https://www.rosemaryandpinesfiberarts.de/why-caring-for-your-clothes-is-important/

  • It takes time and dedication to make your own clothes, so naturally you want to make them last as long as possible. And in addition, it is also better for the environment. The fewer clothes you need, the fewer clothes will end up in a landfill later on. And to top it off, it also saves you money.
Therefore we will have a close look at how to care for (handmade) garments in today's blog post. But even if you don't knit or sew your own clothing, all of the tips also apply to store-bought clothes.

  • I have a new sock design which will be published next month. Right now, I am still looking for a couple of testers. So if you are interested in test knitting this pattern, please let me know (rosemaryandpinesfiberarts[at]gmail.com). The sample is knitted using my own yarn in the Luster Sock DK base. I would love to see more samples knit up in my yarn and am offering test knitters a 20% discount for my Etsy shop. But of course you can also test knit using another DK weight sock yarn (or even a different weight yarn).

  • As knitters, we are naturally drawn to beautiful yarns. I assume most of us have a sizeable stash at home but also have no problem picking out more skeins whenever we are in a shop. But what do you do if you have some yarn that you want to use for a project and cannot find the right pattern for? Maybe it is a small batch yarn and nobody has created a pattern for it yet. Or you simply don't like the designs for which this yarn was used to make the sample.

There is, of course, a solution: You can take the knitting pattern of your choice and adapt it to specifically fit the yarn you chose. But especially if you are a beginner knitter, this can be a bit challenging to wrap your head around. Since I have gotten quite a few questions about this topic lately, I feel like it is worth exploring the different options to modify a knitting pattern for a different yarn weight in a dedicated blog post. You can find the blog post here: https://www.rosemaryandpinesfiberarts.de/how-to-modify-a-knitting-pattern-for-a-different-yarn-weight/

  • In today's blog post I share with you how to make a dried flower wreath. Making your own wreath is a great alternative to buying pre-made wreaths. It is neither very time consuming nor difficult and so much cheaper than buying a wreath. And since dried flowers last a long time, you can even store and reuse the wreath for several years. You can find the complete step by step tutorial here:
