  • Can you guess what I am about to make? This is a mixture of plants from my garden, including rosemary, mint and lovage.
Due to several reasons, there won't be a new blogpost this week. But if you would like to know what I am up to at the moment, you can subscribe to my newsletter here: https://www.rosemaryandpinesfiberarts.de/

  • This week I am sharing one of my favorite and easily available dye plants on the blog with you: Nettles. Especially if you are looking for a plant material that is able to create a gorgeous shade of green, you should give dyeing with nettles a try!
And for those of you who prefer knitting with naturally dyed yarns instead of dyeing them yourself, don't worry: There is going to be a small shop update with some beautiful soft shades of green, yellow and grey yarns very soon.

  • Today is the final day of the school year and the start of the summer holidays! I am looking forward to some slow mornings and lots of family time.
  • I asked my newsletter subscribers last week about which topic they wanted to read about next. There were three options to choose from and the majority opted for "Overdyeing and Modifying Yarn Colors You Don't Like". So this is what this week's blog post is all about. I completely understand why this was the most popular topic. With natural dyeing, you never completely know which color result to expect. Although this is part of the magic of natural dyeing, it can be frustrating if you are not happy with the colorway you created. But fear not, there are several options to change yarn colors you don't like. You can find them all in the blog post:

  • Although it looks a bit unimpressive on the picture, I am actually really excited about the dyestuff that's currently in my dyepot. After using dyer's chamomile flower heads with great success for solar dyeing, I am now experimenting with the leaves and stalks of dyer's chamomile. And of course I will let you know how the colors turn out. In the meantime, if you want to know more about solar dyeing with dyer's chamomile, you can find the blogpost here:
